Restore your PC to its original state original (factory) without CD/DVD

For a few years now, “brand” computers have not been supplied with a Windows restore disc.
The first thing to do when buying a “brand” computer would be to burn the CDs/DVDs recovery via the provided utility; but in a hurry to use the “Beast”, only a small half of the buyers of this type of computer think of making these “cakes”!
And when the question arises of formatting/reinstalling the system, how to do ? Phew!, there is a hidden recovery partition on the hard drive.
Depending on the brand, the procedure is different for restoring your PC to its original state.

If this partition has been deleted or altered (by virus for example), the procedures described below will not work. It is possible to download the ISO image of the version of Windows installed on your computer to reset it.
Indeed, it is quite possible to install Windows 7 on your PC using the serial number present on the label stuck under your computer. In the case of Windows 8, 8.1 or 10, you will not find any indication of the serial number on the latter since this information is in the Bios. The installation of Windows will be done without entering the serial number and once the PC is connected to the Internet, the activation will be done automatically.

/!\ Warning: all your personal data under C:\ will be lost.
Back up your files on an external disk or a USB key. /!\

Procedure specific to Windows 10 when the hidden partition is present and not altered

This procedure is valid for all brands of computers running Windows 10.
If unfortunately this procedure does not work on your computer, you will have to follow the procedure specific to the brand of your computer described below .
In the extreme case where these procedures do not work, you will need to boot directly from a DVD or USB key containing the Windows installer to install it and then go to the site your computer manufacturer’s website to retrieve drivers related to your PC model.

  • The configuration panel opens, click on the Update and Security

  • Recover Windows to entire HD

: Here, we delete all the partitions and create a new system partition C. This means that we will erase the entire hard disk, therefore all the partitions it contains to make one and only one. This partition will be C, it will contain the Windows system and the data that will be saved.

  • Recover Windows to entire HD with 2 partitions

: And finally, we delete all the partitions and we create 2 new partitions C (60%) and D (40%). We are therefore going to erase the entire hard disk, but by recreating two very distinct partitions. One that will contain Windows and another for data.
